Do you have to board a cruise ship at a specific location?

I live on an island which is visited by cruise ships, so it seems illogical to fly elsewhere to get on the boat that's then going to come back to where I live! I understand that there are certain embarkation points, etc., but can I just do 'part' of it!? Likewise, if I got on elsewhere, it would seem plain daft to dock where I live a day or two before I'm due to fly home again! Can I just finish the cruise at that point?! I'm sorry if this is a silly question - I just have NO idea where cruises are concerned! Thanks for your help.

Some cruise lines will allow you to get on or off the ship at ports other than the departure and return port. BUT you must make those arrangement ahead of time, especially for getting on ship. The last cruise that we did on a RC ship there were about two dozen passengers who boarded at the first stop that we made after the departure. But I believe that they missed the ship's departure due to a late airline connection.

You have to embark where the ship begins its cruise. However people are kicked off along the way if they are not cruise smart and start trouble. But thats a rare occasion.

Most cruise start and end at the same point. The only way to get on a cruise elsewhere is if you miss the ship. But you would not be allowed to cruise back to your island. When the cruise gets back to its homeport the cruise is over. Then the next group comes onboard

It's best to check with the cruise line, but I have seen people board in certain countries and cruise until they return to their initial port. I've sen it done in Jamaica and Barbados, but each country may have different rules.

If easyCruise is one of the cruises that docks at your island then you are in luch. They are not as fancy a cruise but they sell their cruises by day and you can embark or debark at any port they visit.

The cruise lines will work with you and help you arrange what you need. ………at least many of them will.

I have a friend in Cozumel and she only cruises one-way because it's cheaper than flying!!

Call the different cruise lines and ask questions.

There's a new group for singles planning to cruise in the next 10 years you might want to join and get acquainted with other singles who want to cruise.

I think many of them will probably be retired young with 'having fun traveling' on their agenda!

You can join the group now and once it grows, we will get to meet new members and go on cruises with friends!
